    I must say I have mixed feelings about Romney. I like his policies on economics or the economy, but I am not supportive of what is probably his number one accomplishment- Romneycare in Massachusetts- because it is so much like Obamacare. I am glad that he has changed his position to pro-life from pro-choice. But, I am skeptical whether that was a real conversion or not. Or is it just political opportunism? I hope his conversion is a reality and I want to believe it, but, I am just skeptical because of intuitions of mine. I like his position on gay marriage. He believes that marriage is between a man and a woman. I agree with Mitt Romney's beliefs on having a strong national defense in the United States. Well, we've got some time before we have to figure out who our next presidential candidate will be in the 2012 elections.

New York Times Columnist, Paul Krugman, Says Death Panels are Going to Save 'a lot of Money'

    Sarah Palin was right!! -- Death Panels are in the health care law.

    The Liberal New York Times commentator Paul Krugman says the so-called "death panels" established by President Obama's trillion-dollar nationalized health-care plan will end up saving "a lot of money" for the government. 



    WND columnist Jane Chastain recently wrote on this very subject:
    "This bill sets up an Independent Medicare Advisory Board, which is to recommend cuts for the sole purpose of limiting the amount of resources going to Medicare patients. Some have called it a 'Death Panel,'" she wrote.


    "You may think this is harsh, but if this bill passes, many seniors will die prematurely because the recommendations of these unelected bureaucrats will go into effect. Congress is not required to act on them!"

    "Obama … wants Granny to believe that she will be able to receive that operation or treatment that could save or extend her life. Nothing could be further from the truth! There is a reverse incentive in this bill that actually penalizes Granny's primary-care physician if he or she is in the top 10 percent of doctors who refer patients to specialists. This puts a wedge between Granny and the doctor she trusts to act in her best interest."


    Richard Poe, a New York Times best-selling author, documented in a previous report for WND how the government's plan to cut health care costs will do just that: cut health care for somebody.


    "The only question is whose," Poe wrote. "The numbers make clear that most of these cuts will have to come at the expense of those who need health care the most – the elderly, the disabled and the gravely ill."

    He cited Obama's confirmation that, "Older, sicker societies pay more on health care than younger, healthier ones."

    "He is right," Poe wrote. "According to a 2006 study by the Department of Health and Human Services, five percent of the U.S. population accounts for nearly 50 percent of health care spending in America. Who are those five percent? Most are people over 65 years of age with serious, chronic illnesses.

    "By contrast, the study notes, half of the U.S. population 'spends little or nothing on health care… with annual medical spending below $664 per person.' These, of course, are mostly healthy young people – people without serious, chronic illnesses," Poe wrote.

    "Obviously, Obama will not meet his cost-cutting targets by reducing care to healthy young people. They are already spending next to nothing. It is the old, the dying and the chronically ill whose health care he will cut. The numbers make this clear," Poe said.

    Some of those "old, the dying and the chronically ill" appear to be catching on. According to a report from Fox News, an estimated 60,000 members of AARP, which endorsed "Obamacare," have turned in their cards, cancelling their memberships, in recent weeks.

    Poe elaborated on his concerns about the president's plan.

    "How will Obama cut costs? His June 13 radio speech gave some hints. Obama said his plan would provide 'incentives' to doctors to 'avoid unnecessary hospital stays, treatments and tests that drive up costs,'" Poe wrote.

    "And what sort of treatment does Obama consider 'unnecessary?' In an ABC News special June 24, he implied medical treatment might be wasted on elderly people with grave illnesses, citing his own grandmother as an example," he said.

    "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller," Obama concluded.

    Poe also documented how such health care limits already are being used overseas, including the United Kingdom where "British elders are routinely denied treatment for cancer, heart disease and other deadly illnesses."

    Further, such "death" boards already are operating in Oregon, where officials with the state Health Plan agreed to refuse a patient life-extending cancer drugs, but volunteered to pay for her to commit suicide.

    He reported Barbara Wagner of Springfield, Ore., was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005. Chemotherapy and radiation put her cancer into remission. But the cancer returned in May 2008.

    Wagner's doctor prescribed Tarceva, a pill which slows cancer growth. There was a good chance it might extend her life by a few weeks or even months.

    At age 64, Wagner had two sons, three daughters, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Every moment she could spend with her loved ones was precious, he noted.

    But Oregon's health commissars nixed the plan. Her Tarceva treatment would cost $4,000 per month. Wagner was going to die anyway, so why waste the money?

    Wagner received a letter stating that the Oregon Health Plan would not approve any treatment for her "that is meant to prolong life, or change the course of the disease …" However, if Wagner opted for physician-assisted suicide, Oregon would be happy to pick up the tab, said the letter.

    Physician-assisted suicide is legal in Oregon and costs only about $50.

I Want My Country Back!

    This is a re-post from Hyphenated American's blog.  His words ring oh so true today.  The health care vote that took place last night has contributed to the death of America as we know it. 

    It seems like the ultra-liberals have been able to bribe and coerce enough congress-scumbags to pass the Obamacare. And as I said before, there would be hell to pay for this monstrosity. Obamacare is the very definition of unlimited government - the threat of which was forewarned by the Founding Fathers more than two centuries ago. The federal government, which is up to its neck in debt and unfunded liabilities, decided to launch the biggest entitlement of all times – the medical care for all. The spending on this new entitlement will surely dwarf many if not most of Federal programs and will make the bankruptcy of federal and state governments inevitable. The time of reckoning is at hand, brothers and sisters. Obamacare is the last breath of the liberal order – and it’s time to take America back from the party of thieves and looters.


    All patriots of this nation must stand together and fight back. United we will win! There is no blue or red America anymore – there are only those that believe in America the beautiful, America the free, America the shining city on the hill – and those that believe in welfare socialism and government servitude. Today, we fight not only for our personal well-being – but for the dignity and honor of this country, for the right to look into the eyes of our children and say – we defended this nation from the perils of socialism. In November 2010, we will answer the crucial questions of our times - are American people worthy of the efforts of the Founding Fathers? Will American people have the right to proudly say “We are Americans” – or will they forever live in infamy and indignity of welfare socialism?

    I am glad that the Democratic Party passed the Rubicon. From now on, there is no coming back for the liberal elites, no talks of compromise and middle-ground. Today, it is abundantly clear that we either will live in Obama's America or America that our Founding Father envisioned. You cannot have both.

    The November elections will be the most important elections in our lifetime. If you don’t vote for America in November – you don’t deserve to be called an American.

Ron Paul's Common Sense Solutions For Health Care Problems

    This is a wonderful repost from My Thoughts on Freedom in which Chris posted Ron Paul's common sense solutions to the health care problems in America.

    Government has been mismanaging medical care for more than 45 years; for every problem it has created it has responded by exponentially expanding the role of government.


    Points to consider:




    1.No one has a right to medical care. If one assumes such a right, it endorses the notion that some individuals have a right to someone else’s life and property. This totally contradicts the principles of liberty.


    2.If medical care is provided by government, this can only be achieved by an authoritarian government unconcerned about the rights of the individual.


    3.Economic fallacies accepted for more than 100 years in the United States have deceived policy makers into believing that quality medical care can only be achieved by government force, taxation, regulations, and bowing to a system of special interests that creates a system of corporatism.


    4.More dollars into any monopoly run by government never increases quality but it always results in higher costs and prices.


    5.Government does have an important role to play in facilitating the delivery of all goods and services in an ethical and efficient manner.


    6.First, government should do no harm. It should get out of the way and repeal all the laws that have contributed to the mess we have.


    7.The costs are obviously too high but in solving this problem one cannot ignore the debasement of the currency as a major factor.


    8.Bureaucrats and other third parties must never be allowed to interfere in the doctor/patient relationship.


    9.The tax code, including the ERISA laws, must be changed to give everyone equal treatment by allowing a 100% tax credit for all medical expenses.


    10.Laws dealing with bad outcomes and prohibiting doctors from entering into voluntary agreements with their patients must be repealed. Tort laws play a significant role in pushing costs higher, prompting unnecessary treatment and excessive testing. Patients deserve the compensation; the attorneys do not.


    11.Insurance sales should be legalized nationally across state lines to increase competition among the insurance companies.


    12.Long-term insurance policies should be available to young people similar to term-life insurances that offer fixed prices for long periods of time.


    13.The principle of insurance should be remembered. Its purpose in a free market is to measure risk, not to be used synonymously with social welfare programs. Any program that provides for first-dollar payment is no longer insurance. This would be similar to giving coverage for gasoline and repair bills to those who buy car insurance or providing food insurance for people to go to the grocery store. Obviously, that could not work.


    14.The cozy relationship between organized medicine and government must be reversed. Early on, medical insurance was promoted by the medical community in order to boost re-imbursements to doctors and hospitals. That partnership has morphed into the government/insurance industry still being promoted by the current administration.


    15.Threatening individuals with huge fines by forcing them to buy insurance is a boon to the insurance companies.


    16.There must be more competition for individuals entering into the medical field. Licensing strictly limits the number of individuals who can provide patient care. A lot of problems were created in 20th century as a consequence the Flexner Report (1910), which was financed by the Carnegie Foundation and strongly supported by the AMA. Many medical schools were closed and the number of doctors was drastically reduced. The motivation was to close down medical schools that catered to women, minorities and especially homeopathy. We continue to suffer from these changes, which were designed to protect physician’s income and promote allopathic medicine over the more natural cures and prevention of homeopathic medicine.


    17.We must remove any obstacles for people seeking holistic and nutritional alternatives to current medical care. We must remove the threat of further regulations pushed by the drug companies now working worldwide to limit these alternatives.


    True competition in the delivery of medical care is what is needed, not more government meddling.

    The Truth About the Health Care Bills - Michael Connelly, Ret. Constitutional Attorney

    Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.

    To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.

    The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business, and put everyone into a government run system.

    All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, and most of them will not be health care professionals.

    Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the government.

    However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated.

    If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.

    The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people, and the businesses they own.

    The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.

    This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal healthcare in direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital.

    All of this is protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures.. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.

    If you decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if you have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator appointed by Obama, there will be a tax imposed on you.

    It is called a tax instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment.

    However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the due process of law.

    So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law It doesn't stop there though.

    The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;

    The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.

    I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights.

    Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution." If I was a member of Congress, I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

    For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the source, the US Constitution, and Bill of Rights. There you can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.

    The Communist Workers Party published an article recently in defense of state-run medicine like the proposal that democrats are wanting to ram through in the next 10 days.

    When the administration of John F. Kennedy discussed a plan for government health care that would cover people of Social Security age, the American Medical Association (AMA) fought back, along with the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, with a well-funded campaign–complete with a commercial featuring actor Ronald Reagan, who was determined to talk to America about an “imminent threat”:

    Now, back in 1927, an American socialist, Norman Thomas, six times candidate for president on the Socialist Party ticket, said the American people would never vote for socialism. But he said under the name of liberalism, the American people would adopt every fragment of the socialist program…

    One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project…Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it.

    …Of course, the danger of creeping socialism is a much less compelling argument today among ordinary people than it was during the Cold War. If anything, socialism is becoming a preferred alternative to the mess that capitalism has made of working-class living standards…

    …According to the Physicians for a National Health Program’s (PNHP) Karen Palmer, the AMA assessed its members an extra $25 each to resist national health insurance, and in 1945, it spent $1.5 million on lobbying efforts, which at the time was the most expensive lobbying effort in American history. An AMA pamphlet warned, “Would socialized medicine lead to socialization of other phases of life? Lenin thought so. He declared socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of the socialist state.”

    We are only 10 days away (or less!) from the final vote on ObamaCare. If the House votes yes on the Senate bill that is now before it, THE GAME IS OVER. Since the Senate already passed it, once the House passes it on March 18, Obama’s signature on it (which will be immediate) MAKES IT LAW.

    We are about to become a Socialist country. For if this passes, it will be virtually unrepealable. Health entitlement programs, once enacted, have proven to be permanent.

    Think about it. Ten days from now: Permanent taxpayer funding of abortion. Permanent death panels (yes, those are in the bill), with no appeal of their decisions. Permanent forcing of pro-life doctors to refer for abortions, under penalty of loss of their license to practice. Within five years, no more freedom to buy private policies of your choice (only policies approved by the federal government). Small insurance companies, such as the one that took such incredibly good care of my husband during his illness, will very quickly be permanently out of business.

    The Democrats KNOW that nationalizing health care is the single most effective step in making the USA a socialist country. Lenin said it first:

    WE MUST DO WHATEVER IT TAKES IN THE NEXT TEN DAYS TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING!

    Now is the time to act.

Half Time Reflections on the Health Care Summit


    I have been watching the bipartisan health care summit on and off, and I have made a few observations. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated, "Health Care reform is an entitlement reform." Well, that has become self-evident in this health care "debate", that Democrats think that health care is an entitlement. Well, who has paid for the Democrats' other entitlement programs over the years? Hard-working tax payers. The tax payers in America have had enough, and are not willing to dole out their hard-earned money for another entitlement program which will only massively increase in size in future years. There actually hasn't been much transparency during the Obama presidency, as Obama promised during the campaign. In fact, I feel like he and Democrats threw their cars into reverse and hit the accelator, had more corrupt backdoor deals than has ever been done in American history, ignored the American people, and has been bull headed in trying to shove this bill down our throats. Sen. Harry Reid tried to pin his facts versus Sen. Lamar Alexander's facts like he has the moral high ground, when he doesn't. Reid was clearly playing the compassion card instead of of facts and reality. Its lovely (sarcasm) how he likes to extend compassion to others with other tax payers' money. Rep. Steney Hoyer looked like he was bored and wanted to slap the f**k out of Reid when he was shooting his mouth off.


    It is clear that Republicans have their A-Team at the summit. They sent physicians that really know their stuff. Obama and the Democrats are trying to distort reality by making it appear that the Republicans are in agreement on most issues with the Democrats, when that couldn't be further from the truth. There are major fundamental philosophical differences between Democrats and Republicans on how to solve the affordability and accessibility issues within health care today. The Democrats believe that government should control our lives, make our health care decisions, and the government makes better health care decisons, or decisons period, than the individual person. On the other hand, the Republicans believe in the intelligence of the individual, keeping and promoting individual freedoms that are in line with our Constitution, and that the individual makes much better decisions with his own money than our government has or ever will.

    President Obama said that the CBO stated that the Democratic health reform bills will reduce costs. Sen. Lamar Alexander replied that the CBO stated that the bill will increase costs to consumers or patients. Who was right? Sen. Lamar Alexander was correct. Fox News political correspondent Jim Angle did research and found out that the CBO did in fact state that health insurance premiums would increase by 10 to 13 percent, and that was with having the same type of coverage that you have now. Will Republicans Post Health Care Reform? -- Yes & GOP Health Care Alternatives are Posted Right Here

    The Republicans Common Sense Health Reforms Will Do This:


    • Lowering health care premiums. The GOP plan will lower health care premiums for American families and small businesses, addressing Americans’ number-one priority for health care reform.

    • Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable health care for those with pre-existing conditions. The GOP plan creates Universal Access Programs that expand and reform high-risk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care – while lowering costs for all Americans.

    • Ending junk lawsuits. The GOP plan would help end costly junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine by enacting medical liability reforms modeled after the successful state laws of California and Texas.

    • Prevents insurers from unjustly cancelling a policy. The GOP plan prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy unless a person commits fraud or conceals material facts about a health condition.

    • Encouraging Small Business Health Plans. The GOP plan gives small businesses the power to pool together and offer health care at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do.

    • Encouraging innovative state programs. The GOP plan rewards innovation by providing incentive payment to states that reduce premiums and the number of uninsured.

    • Allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines. The GOP plan allows Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast by allowing Americans living in one state to purchase insurance in another.

    • Promoting healthier lifestyles. The GOP plan promotes prevention & wellness by giving employers greater flexibility to financially reward employees who adopt healthier lifestyles.

    • Enhancing Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). The GOP plan creates new incentives to save for current and future health care needs by allowing qualified participants to use HSA funds to pay premiums for high deductible health insurance.

    • Allowing dependents to remain on their parents’ policies. The GOP plan encourages coverage of young adults on their parents’ insurance through age 25.


    Ten Reasons to Support The Republicans Health Care Alternative:


    Taking the First Step. Republicans listened to the American people and have produced a common sense, fiscally responsible health reform proposal—not Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s 2,000+ page government takeover of 1/6th of our nation’s economy. Republicans have a better plan, one that lowers premiums for working families and small businesses, fights fraud, and will lead to expanded access to affordable health care coverage for all Americans without raising taxes, cutting benefits to seniors or spending money we don’t have.

    Lowers Health Care Premiums.

    According to CBO, the Republican Alternative would reduce health insurance premiums by up to:

    10% for employees who get coverage through a small business (50 or fewer employees)

    8% for those who do not have access to employer-provided coverage

    3% for employees who get coverage through a large business

    All told, under the GOP plan, premiums for millions of families would be nearly $5,000 lower than Speaker Pelosi’s cheapest insurance plan, according to CBO estimates.

    Guarantees Affordable Coverage for Patients with Preexisting Conditions.

    The Republican Alternative makes it illegal for an insurance company to deny coverage to someone with prior coverage on the basis of a pre-existing condition. So if you lose your health insurance because you lose your job, move, get divorced, or just want to change plans, you are protected. Through a new Universal Access Program, all patients with preexisting conditions will have access to affordable health care coverage--without waiting lists. The Republican Alternative also prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy unless an individually knowingly commits fraud on an application form. It also prohibits insurance plans from instituting annual or lifetime spending limits.

    Protects Seniors Medicare Benefits.

    Unlike the Pelosi bill, seniors’ benefits are not cut and nothing in the Republican Alternative will increase seniors’ Medicare premiums.

    No Tax Increases. Period.

    Encourages Small Businesses to Offer Health Care Coverage,


    Without Taxing Job Creation.

Obama Admits that He Spread Misinformation: Under Obamacare You Won't Be Able to Keep Your Own Doctor

    Over the past year, we have been told by the Democrats and Obama on several different instances that we will be able to keep our same doctors under Obamacare. Now, the TRUTH has spewed out of the liars mouth. The truth is that there is a provision in the bill that contradicts the very promise that Obama has consistently made to the American people over the span of one year. Gee, that's integrity for you. NOT. That is real change that you can believe in, NOT. Obama constantly says one thing, and then either does the opposite thing or means the opposite of what he says. Now, look who the people who were spreading MISINFORMATION really were - Obama and Democrats in Congress. The Democrats were spreading MISINFORMATION the whole time, and on purpose. The Dems and Obama have clearly been lying to the American people just to pass their socialist health care. What other misinformation are the Dems spreading around about this health care bill? I am sure Dems are spewing even more misinfromation regarding their health care "reform" proposals just to use the American people and con them into being for something that really won't be in their best interest. Clearly, we need to start over from scratch with this health care reform because the Dems version SUCKS REAL BAD. Let's start over and formulate a common sense health care bill that will lower health care costs and increase accessability for all people.

If you look at the package that we’ve presented — and there’s some stray cats and dogs that got in there that we were eliminating, we were in the process of eliminating. For example, we said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people if you can have your — if you want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you’re not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge.

    As a practicing physician I have major concerns with the health care bill before Congress. I actually have read the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the government's proposed involvement in the patient-physician relationship. The very idea that the government will dictate and ration patient care is DANGEROUS and certainly not helpful in designing a health care system that works for all. Every physician I work with agrees that we need to fix our health care system, but the proposed bills currently making their way through congress WILL BE A DISASTER IF PASSED.


    I ask you respectfully and as a patriotic American to look at the following troubling lines that I have read in the bill. You cannot


    possibly believe that these proposals are in the best interests of the country and our fellow citizens...

    Page 430 Lines 11-15: The Govt will decide what level of treatment you will have at end-of-life! (Again -- no choice!)
    Page 469: Community-Based Home Medical Services = Non-Profit Organizations. (Hello? ACORN Medical Services here!?!)
    Page 489 Sec 1308: The Govt will cover marriage and family therapy. (Which means Govt will insert itself into your marriage even.)

    Page 494-498: Govt will cover Mental Health Services including defining, creating, and rationing those services.

    Senator, I guarantee that I personally will do everything possible to inform patients and my fellow physicians about the dangers of the proposed bills you and your colleagues are debating.
    Furthermore, if you vote for a bill that enforces socialized medicine on the country and destroys the doctor-patient relationship, I will do everything in my power to make sure you lose your job in the next election.

Obamacare is Unconstitutional and Immoral

    In David Rifkin, Jr. and Lee A. Casey's article, they explain exactly how Obamacare is unconstitutional. The "individual mandate" makes Obamcare unconstitutional since Congress does not have the authority to require every American to buy health insurance. "The Constitution assigns only limited, enumerated powers to Congress and none, including the power to regulate interstate commerce or to impose taxes, would support a federal mandate requiring anyone who is otherwise without health insurance to buy it."



    "The otherwise uninsured would be required to buy coverage, not because they were even tangentially engaged in the "production, distribution or consumption of commodities," but for no other reason than that people without health insurance exist. The federal government does not have the power to regulate Americans simply because they are there. Significantly, in two key cases, United States v. Lopez (1995) and United States v. Morrison (2000), the Supreme Court specifically rejected the proposition that the commerce clause allowed Congress to regulate noneconomic activities merely because, through a chain of causal effects, they might have an economic impact. These decisions reflect judicial recognition that the commerce clause is not infinitely elastic and that, by enumerating its powers, the framers denied Congress the type of general police power that is freely exercised by the states."

     Ed Morrissey states in his article that an individual mandate would be unprecedented. He states, "A mandate requiring all individuals to purchase health insurance would be an unprecedented form of federal action. The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States."

    Ed Morrissey quoted both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in explaining the "general welfare" clause and its close connection to enumerated powers and their limitations:

    Money cannot be applied to the General Welfare, otherwise than by an application of it to some particular measure conducive to the General Welfare. Whenever, therefore, money has been raised by the General Authority, and is to be applied to a particular measure, a question arises whether the particular measure be within the enumerated authorities vested in Congress. If it be, the money requisite for it may be applied to it; if it be not, no such application can be made. (James Madison, via Quoty)

    [O]ur tenet ever was, and, indeed, it is almost the only landmark which now divides the federalists from the republicans, that Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but were to those specifically enumerated; and that, as it was never meant they should raise money for purposes which the enumeration did not place under their action; consequently, that the specification of powers is a limitation of the purposes for which they may raise money. (Thomas Jefferson, via Quoty)

    If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions. (James Madison, Letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792 Madison 1865, I, page 546)

    If the government isn't for us, then its against us. In my opinion, the government has proven itself to be illegitimate since the government if ever, but definitely now, no longer represents the will of the people. I believe that this government has become a domestic threat to our very being, our welfare, and our lives. The Obama administration is no longer (probably not ever) looking out for the best interests of its citizens. The "individual mandate" in Obamacare is unconstitutional. It may be time for us as citizens to follow in Martin Luther King Jr.'s footsteps and exercise civil disobedience to a government which would force its citizens to abandon their consciences.
